NEW SOLO RECORDINGS!

Marques has released two recordings the last few years; Yarn: The Great Unraveling, and Full Frontal Confession. One of the songs from Yarn, "Song To Me", earned the following write-up in 2004 from Tom Laskin in the Isthmus column, "Liner Notes":

"Nashville is finally discovering what lots of Madison-area fans of singer-songwriter Marques Bovre have known for years: The guy pens top-flight tunes. Bovre reports that he was recently named the winner in the folk category by the Nashville Song Search 2004 contest for “Song to Me,” which appears on his recent CD Yarn: The Great Unraveling. His prize: a free flight to the Music City, three days in a hotel and a chance to perform at the Bluebird Café, one of the music-besotted town’s best-known showcase clubs. Bovre adds that he’ll also have the opportunity to meet with representatives of several song publishers, which suits him just fine as he’s now more focused on writing than performing. Copies of Yarn are available at Mad City Music and Strictly Discs as well as Bovre’s Web site,"

A word about Full Frontal Confession from Marques on March 3rd, 2003:

"Dear Brothers and Sisters in dysfunction and absurd optimism, The length and strangeness of my particular trip leaves me with little recourse but to say "wow". As one who has never felt comfortable in a church, surrounded by Christians (much more at ease in the fresh air surrounded by pagans or other happy creatures), I find it supremely unlikely to be an active member of an actual ministry. And yet I am (The Crossing Ministry 1127 University Ave.). God has a sense of humor and I am a breathing example of how bizarre Her particular brand of humor can be.

At any rate, I have a new CD of songs that I have written for and performed at the Vespers service at The Crossing Ministry. My friends Mike Wengler and Doug Meihsner helped me produce "Full Frontal Confession" and the lovely and incomparable Linus is prominently featured throughout. "Full Frontal Confession" is also the only home to the most incredible song I have yet brought into being (Heaven Halve Me). Those who have heard me perform "Heaven" in my solo shows have asked about its availability often. Now you know.

For those of you who might be uncomfortable with or even offended by a body of work expressing overt faith, I ask only that you give "Confession" a listen and let it stand (or fall) on its own merit. Whatever baggage you might be carrying due to your experience with or perceptions of organized religion, believe me when I tell you it is my burden as well.

My journey has been and continues to be about trying to see God in all that is good and beautiful and learning not to blame Her for all of the worst that organized religion has wrought throughout history. "Full Frontal Confession" bears witness to that journey and I hope you will give it a listen and find a song or two that will speak to your heart. Thank you for all your love and support through the years and thanks to Mike Wengler, Doug Meihsner, Linus, CJ Summerfield, Taras Nahirniak, Jamie Ryan, Paulie Ryan, Korbin Berg, Lujean Chicks and Tom Blain for their generous contributions to "Full Frontal Confession". I hope to see you all at the MBET Final Farewell Show April 19 at Luther's."

Love, peace, etc.
Marques
